Block LGD Codes
The "LGD codes of Blocks" dataset provides the list of total number of blocks along with their LGD Codes and respective distrcit code. This dataset is a critical component of India's governance structure and empowers decentralized administration. The LGD dataset provides comprehensive information about every block in the country. It includes block names, LGD codes, and parent district code facilitating a deeper understanding of administrative units. Each block is uniquely identified by an LGD code, ensuring consistency and accuracy in data management, communication, and reporting. The dataset is regularly updated to reflect changes due to block bifurcations, the creation of new blocks, or boundary modifications.

Methodology | The process of collecting and assigning LGD codes to every block involves meticulous data collection, verification, and standardization. The process begins with the collection of administrative data at the grassroots level. This includes details about the administrative boundaries, such as block names, district names, and geographical coordinates. Data is sourced from state and union territory governments, local administrative bodies, and surveys. To ensure consistency and accuracy, collected data undergoes a rigorous standardization process. LGD codes are assigned based on a standardized coding system. Each block is uniquely identified by an LGD code. These codes are generated systematically, often incorporating elements such as state codes, district codes, and sequential block numbers. The LGD database is regularly updated to reflect changes due to administrative modifications, such as the creation of new blocks, block bifurcations, or boundary adjustments. |
