PDS District Wise Monthly Wheat and Rice
The District wise Public Distribution System (PDS) dataset provides critical information about the distribution of essential commodities to eligible households through the PDS in India, in light of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) of 2013. The NFSA legally entitles up to 75% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population to receive subsidized food grains through the Targeted Public Distribution System, with around 80.60 crore persons currently covered under the Act. The PDS dataset includes information on the distribution of rice and wheat.

Data insights | This dataset can be used by researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to analyze the implementation of the NFSA and identify areas for improvement in ensuring food security for all eligible households. It can provide useful inputs for questions like: How does the distribution of rice and wheat through the Public Distribution System (PDS) vary across different districts in India? What is the total quantity of rice and wheat distributed through the PDS on a monthly basis, and how has this changed over time? How does the distribution of rice and wheat through the PDS compare to the requirements under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) of 2013 in different districts? |
