CGWB - Changes in Depth to Water Level

The Groundwater Level, sourced from the Ministry of Jal Shakti, offers a comprehensive view of groundwater levels across India. It includes manually collected data from monitoring wells, high-frequency telemetric readings, and long-term records observation wells dating back to 1969. The datasets enable spatial, temporal, and trend analysis of groundwater fluctuations, supporting research on aquifer health, water availability, and policy decisions for sustainable water management.

Methodology Groundwater levels are systematically and periodically monitored across India. These wells are monitored four times annually specifically in January, March/April/May, August, and November to capture seasonal variations in groundwater levels effectively. Each well is geographically mapped and characterized by its longitude, latitude, basin, and sub-basin attributes.
