District LGD Codes
The dataset provides the list of total number of district along with their LGD Codes and respective state code. Each district is uniquely identified by an LGD code. This uniform coding system facilitates efficient data management and ensures clarity in communication across various government departments. These codes consist of numerical characters, encoding geographical and administrative information. The dataset is periodically updated to accommodate changes due to district bifurcations, new administrative units, or modifications in boundaries.

Methodology | The data collection and LGD code assignment process on the LGD website involve a collaborative effort between local, state, and central government authorities. Data collection starts at the grassroots level with local authorities and government officials. They provide information about the administrative divisions, boundaries, and other relevant data. State-level authorities and departments contribute by aggregating and verifying this data. They ensure consistency and accuracy. Each district is given a unique LGD code and rigorous data verification processes act in place to eliminate duplication and errors. The system is dynamic and regularly updated to accommodate changes in administrative divisions, such as district bifurcations, mergers, or renaming. |
